The puzzle that is horse racing on the straight track at Newcastle

No matter how much I study my selections on the All Weather straight course at Newcastle, finding the winner remains to be one of the most tricky tasks my form study tackles.

In many cases, after the race has been run, I can see the reason as to why I backed the loser and fairly often why the winner had a better chance or was better value. But, I have found the results on this relatively new All Weather course, are even less predictable than on other courses.

You could be forgiven thinking that it would be easier finding winners on the straight course at Newcastle as opposed to finding a winner at Wolverhampton, Lingfield, Chelmsford or Kempton where the tracks are oval, but in my experience, it is not.
